REVEALING NEW SURVEY INFORMS OUR ‘BRIGHT NIGHTS’ EMPLOYER GUIDE

Earlier this year, Night Club conducted a survey of HR professionals (via YouGov) to inform our Bright Nights guide. We reached a sample of over 280 respondents in companies employing night workers – across a wide range of company sizes and sectors. This data paints a useful picture about where things currently stand in relation to sleep, fatigue and shift worker wellbeing:

  • Only 41% reported that their company monitors staff tiredness or fatigue

  • Over 35% do not currently offer routine health checks, suggesting some companies may not be in line with the expectations set out in the Working Time Regulations for this

  • We asked about existing provision for shift workers. 50% reported ‘always/often’ making adaptations to the working environment for shift workers (e.g. lighting, rest areas, safety measures) but just 20% reported ‘always/often’ providing induction or training on managing sleep and healthy lifestyle

Whatever your starting position, our Bright Nights guide for employers will help you understand where you might need to do more to support shift worker productivity, health and wellbeing, and practical ways of achieving this.
