Night worker support rollout at Sysco GB improves employee engagement and retention

NIGHT WORKER SUPPORT ROLLOUT AT SYSCO GB IMPROVES EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT AND RETENTION

Sysco GB, the UK’s largest foodservice supplier, launched a full rollout of Night Club’s interactive sleep support programme earlier this year and is already seeing the benefits.

Over 1200 Sysco colleagues have been reached to date, with 87% of participants reporting learning something new to improve the quality of their sleep, and more than two thirds expressing that the Night Club intervention shows that their employer has a positive interest in their wellbeing.

Between March and August 2025, we brought expert facilitators (including clinical psychologists, nutrition experts and sleep scientists) to 24 of Sysco’s UK sites to run interactive workshops at night. The Night Club curriculum focused on five key learning areas – Chronotype, Environment, Light, Diet & Exercise, and Mental Health, combining practical demonstrations with non-judgemental advice and easily actionable tips for better sleep.

Sysco GB’s report into the programme revealed that it has already seen improvements in retention rates and employee engagement, prompting the foodservice supplier to take the next step and create a network of 40 trained Night Club Sleep Champions to act as ambassadors, who can share evidence-based sleep tips, motivate peers and induct new night workers, ensuring the benefits are embedded and that a healthier and safer night shift endures.
