LEADING THROUGH THE NIGHT

LEADING THROUGH
THE NIGHT – MAKE A PLEDGE

What we’re asking you to do

1. Make the pledge

Start by signing the Night Club Leadership Pledge. By doing so, you’re committing to spend time working a night shift alongside your team.

This isn’t about inspection or performance management. It’s about showing leadership presence, building understanding, and seeing the realities of night work first-hand.

2. Work a night shift

Join your team on a night shift - not as an observer, but as a participant.

Pay attention to:

  • How people feel, not just how they perform

  • The working environment: lighting, temperature and noise

  • Food and drink availability

  • Breaks, rest spaces and recovery practices

Most importantly, have real conversations. Simple questions like “How did you sleep?” or “What’s working well, and what could be better?” often surface insights you won’t find in reports or surveys.

3. Share what you learned

After your night shift, share a short reflection on LinkedIn to help normalise leadership presence at night and encourage others to do the same.

Suggested prompt:

“Last night I worked a night shift with our team. Here’s what I noticed – and what I’ll do differently as a result.”
